Quantum chromodynamics with advanced computing

چکیده
We survey results in lattice quantum chromodynamics from groups in the USQCD Collaboration. The main focus is on physics, but many aspects of the discussion are aimed at an audience of computational physicists.

BQIABC: A new Quantum-Inspired Artificial Bee Colony Algorithm for Binary Optimization Problems
Artificial bee colony (ABC) algorithm is a swarm intelligence optimization algorithm inspired by the intelligent behavior of honey bees when searching for food sources. The various versions of the ABC algorithm have been widely used to solve continuous and discrete optimization problems in different fields. In this paper a new binary version of the ABC algorithm inspired by quantum computing, c...
متن کاملNew Multigrid Solver Advances in TOPS
In this paper, we highlight new multigrid solver advances in the Terascale Optimal PDE Simulations (TOPS) project in the Scientific Discovery Through Advanced Computing (SciDAC) program. We discuss two new algebraic multigrid (AMG) developments in TOPS: the adaptive smoothed aggregation method (αSA) and a coarse-grid selection algorithm based on compatible relaxation (CR). The αSA method is sho...
متن کاملAdvanced Algorithms for the Simulation of Gauge Theories with Dynamical Fermionic Degrees of Freedom
The topic of this thesis is the numerical simulation of quantum chromodynamics including dynamical fermions. Two major problems of most simulation algorithms that deal with dynamical fermions are (i) their restriction to only two mass-degenerate quarks, and (ii) their limitation to relatively heavy masses. Realistic simulations of quantum chromodynamics, however, require the inclusion of three ...
متن کاملQCD on Parallel Computers at the HLRZ Supercomputing Center
Large-scale simulations of Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) which were performed on different parallel high-end supercomputers at the HLRZ supercomputing center, are introduced. Emphasis is laid on the hardware used and the parallelization strategies.
متن کاملReduced Nuclear Amplitudes in Quantum Chromodynamics
We present a new formalism which systematically accounts for nucleon compositeness in nuclear scattering amplitudes, consistent-with quantum chromodynamics (QCD) and covariance. Reduced gauge-invariant nuclear amplitudes are defined which have elementary QCD scaling properties. The procedure is applied to the photodisintegration and electrodisintegration of the deuteron as a test of nuclear chr...
